Dear Councilwoman Gregory,
This letter is in reference to the February 19, 2009 request to speak to the Rules Committee about the Rules of the Council, specifically about communications with the council.
I wanted to ensure that you did get a copy of my request. I have enclosed a copy of the request with this letter. Councilwoman Gregory, I respectfully request in writing that you are in receipt of my request and that you would call for a Rules Committee Meeting to have a hearing on this matter or bring the matter before the council for a public hearing. I understand that I would be aloud to orally speak to the Rules Committee on the matter being referred to the Committee according to City Ordinance 02-250 Sec. 2-62. Communications with council paragraph c:
Communication with committees. Taxpayers or residents of the city or their authorized legal representatives shall be permitted to orally address any committee of the council on any matter referred to that committee. Requests to appear before a committee of the council shall be filed with the city clerk, who shall refer the same to the chairman of the committee. The chairman of the committee may call a meeting of the committee to hear the matters presented, or shall bring the matter before the council to set a time and place for a public hearing.
